Last night my friends and I went to see the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight. I had been a real fan of the first instalment, Batman Begins, especially since it had come at a really dark time in my life where I wasn't really sure what I was doing and who I could trust.
I appreciate the cinematography and production of the film because it takes the story farther away from the hokey-ness of the other comic book inspired films like Spiderman, and tries to fully embody the original purpose and creation of the main character. Batman, a la Bruce Wayne, is a dark, twisted and haunted person. It is difficult for someone with these attributes to be a real hero. He is constantly battling his inner demons by attacking those that are present in his reality.
Ok, enough of my psychoanalysis of a fictional character.
THE MOVIE WAS GREAT!
I was constantly fidgeting in my seat, grabbing Anki's arm, and making mental comments like "My God, Christian Bale looks amazing with his shirt off". The late Heath Ledger also gave an incredible performance, completely embodying the disconnected and diabolical Joker. There were plenty of twists, and even some recognizable characters from the cartoon that I used to watch! The question is, who will be his arch nemesis in the next round?

Finally, a family member that likes to talk about the film- the character construction, the cinematography, the costumes the special effects- it's more than entertainment to me. It is art. I am glad if you are through the dark period of your life. I didn't really know you had one, but most of us do. Twenty-one is always a hard year. I am going to write a book about it someday.
I completely agree in regards to the movie. I saw a midnight showing the day before it released in the states, and I haven't been able to stop talking/thinking about it since! I enjoyed your psychoanalysis mostly because my friends and I picked apart the film in the same manner... our biggest question being that of yours... who will be the next villain? I'm thinking they could bring the riddler back without making it too campy... but I also somewhat feel that the riddler and the joker are nearly one in the same. ohh the suspense!
mom! I totally would have had a discussion with you about it! who is the girl with all the television radio film major friends at her communication school? who does practically nothing but watch movies?!
I feel strangely detached from my own mother.
I loved it too elise, Brian and I went on his last day here when we were in cleveland. a bit long, but I never felt eager to leave. I agree with jenna, the riddler would be interesting, but I think the penguin or mr. freeze/poison ivy would be a good remake to the older outdated movies.
But joker didn't die in the movie. do you think they'll replace him?
